Nominate members for General and Provincial Synod
The Nominating Committee of the Diocese of Toronto is calling for nominations for both General Synod and Provincial Synod, with election to take place at the November 2011 Regular Session of Synod. All members of Diocesan Synod are entitled to make nominations. The deadline is June 30. More information (pdf).
Act and pray for justice in the provincial election
Anglicans are planning action for Ontario’s Oct. 6 provincial election. What can your parish do? Download this leaflet (pdf), created by the Social Justice and Advocacy Committee, which suggests strategies for involvement and offers some basic questions that can be asked of all candidates.
Read and use the leaflet (you can post it by your phone or door, so that it’s handy when candidates call or visit), and urge your parish or faith community to distribute it widely. It is designed to be printed as a two-sided half-sheet. If you have questions or need further information, email hpaukov@toronto.anglican.ca.
Order Back to Church Sunday kits by June 17
The kits for Back to Church Sunday 2011 are now available to order. Each kit includes a set of posters, 50 invitation/prayer cards, and a Back to Church Sunday tip sheet. Orders should be placed as soon as possible, and no later than June 17. Kits are shipped to congregations in July. For more information, see poster (pdf). Apply for a Reach Grant by June 23
The Diocese invites applications to the recently launched Reach Grants program, which is intended to enable local ministry that will reach people who are not currently being reached by traditional forms of church. One-time grants of $500-$5000 will be awarded. The deadline for applications is June 23. For more information, see the application guidelines (pdf).

Mobile app available from Employee Assistance Program provider
Shepell.fgi, the Diocese’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provider, has announced the launch of My EAP, an EAP mobile application that will allow clergy and their family members to access their EAP right from their mobile device. My EAP, which is designed for the Apple and RIM families of mobile devices, delivers interactive health and wellness resources, as well as access to EAP services. Fundraising campaign publishes Block I results, issues fourth newsletter
The Diocese’s major fundraising campaign, Our Faith-Our Hope: Re-Imagine Church, has released the results, as of June 3, for the 28 parishes in Block I of the campaign. Download the report (pdf).

Two more parish hall meetings planned
Archbishop Colin Johnson will hold two more parish hall meetings this spring to “hear the mind of the diocese” prior to synod, which takes place Nov. 25-26 in Toronto. The meetings will be informal and will not have an agenda.
The remaining parish hall meetings will be held in the following locations:
• St. John the Evangelist, Port Hope, June 12, 6:30-8:30 p.m.;
• St. George, Allandale, June 26, 2-4 p.m.

Lead vocalist needed
St. Paul, Lorne Park, in south-west Mississauga, is looking for a lead vocalist to support the parish music program. The successful applicant will lead congregational singing of the hymns and service music at the weekly 10 a.m. Sunday service, as well as during the five Holy Days per year. Some solo work will be required. This is a one-year contract position requiring three to four hours per week. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
