Diocesan Centre to observe summer hours
The Diocesan Centre will be closed on Fridays during July and August, starting July 7. The office will be open Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Normal hours will resume after Labour Day.

Nominations requested for 2018 Provincial Synod
The Nominating Committee of the Diocese of Toronto is calling for nominations for members of Provincial Synod. The next session will be held in Ottawa on Oct. 10-12, 2018. All members of Diocesan Synod are entitled to make nominations of any members of Synod. See more details about the requirements. Nominations must be submitted to Pamela Boisvert, Secretary of Synod, at pboisvert@toronto.anglican.ca by Sept. 1, 2017.

Cyclists to raise funds for PWRDF
Cyclists of all skill levels are invited to the Anglican Cycle of Prayer on July 22. A group will meet in Innisfil for a day of fun and fellowship. There will be a 17-km ride departing at 2 p.m., a 50-km ride departing at 12:30 p.m. and a 100-km ride departing at 10:30 a.m. Participants are asked to ensure their bicycles are in good working condition, bring sufficient water bottles and obey all traffic signs. Helmets are mandatory, and there will be a waiver for all participants to sign. The cost will be $60 per adult. Lunch will be provided, with proceeds going to the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund. For more details, see the Facebook event page. Conference explores Messy Church movement
Messy Church leaders, volunteers and newcomers are invited to the first Messy Church Canadian Conference on Oct. 26-27 at Wycliffe College, Toronto. There will be keynote addresses by Lucy Moore, the founder of Messy Church, and Martyn Payne, member of the Bible Reading Fellowship’s Messy Church team, along with many practical workshops. The conference welcomes parents, grandparents, Christian educators and anyone interested in reaching families in the community with the Gospel message. Ottawa hosts interfaith service for Canada 150+
All are invited to A Prayer for Canada 150+, an interfaith celebration for the people of Ottawa on the eve of Canada Day. This service will contextualize the 150th anniversary of confederation by intentionally acknowledging the Indigenous peoples who have lived for millennia on the land we now share as Canada. The number “150+” is being used to recognize the history of the land before 1867. The event will take place at 7 p.m. on June 30 at Christ Church Cathedral, 414 Sparks St., Ottawa. Laity invited to join theological program
Every baptized person is called to ministry. The Education for Ministry (EfM) program offers the opportunity to discover how to respond to the call to Christian service and provides the education to carry out that ministry. A theological education for the curious Christian, EfM is offered in a local group setting or online with a trained mentor. The program is four years long, but students are only committed for one year at a time. Graduates use their experiences in lay ministries within and outside a church setting. Training program explores missional ministry
Fresh Expressions Canada is introducing the Missional Leadership Cohort, a program for those who want to imagine and explore new forms of Christian community, help an existing congregation experiment with fresh expression of church, or plant a new missional worshipping community. The course is offered as a one-year training program that involves three two-day sessions. Those who complete the program receive a certificate in missional leadership, with the possibility of transferring credits into a master’s degree program. Jayne Miles Simpson, a member of Christ Church, Deer Park, is certified to measure, fit, advise and sell compression socks, hosiery, compression garments and orthotics to help clergy whose legs, ankles and feet have become sore from long periods of standing during worship or other activities. Music lead wanted
St. Paul, Bloor Street is looking for a professional, dependable and enthusiastic individual with a passion for people and music to become the music lead for its 9:30 a.m. service, Bridge. The successful applicant will report to the rector and be responsible for planning, coordinating and leading the weekly 9:30 a.m. worship service music. The music lead prays, sings and interacts with a band, the ministry team and church members to ensure the service flows as smoothly as possible from beginning to end. Knowledge and experience in Anglican liturgy is an asset. Strong playing and conducting skills, leadership and interpersonal skills, and a passion for worship ministry are a must. Parish seeks child and youth minister
St. Olave, Swansea is looking for a child and youth minister who is passionate about teaching young people about the love of God and the teachings of Jesus. The position will be 8-10 hours per week on average for 40 weeks a year. The successful candidate will have experience teaching young people in a church or Christ-centred setting; enjoy engaging children in the stories of the Bible; have appropriate theological training (students will be considered); and have excellent communication skills.
