Parish of Trinity, Colborne deconsecrated

The parish of Trinity, Colborne, was deconsecrated on June 12 after years of declining attendance at weekly Sunday services. “Parish churches have life cycles, like people do,” said Archbishop Colin Johnson. “It is appropriate, indeed necessary, to grieve this loss, and also to give thanks for the good work that has been done over generations.  But we do not grieve as those without hope.  That hope is founded not on a building but in the living God.  We are a people of resurrection.  I believe that God calls us to be good stewards of our resources and to be open to new opportunities for mission and ministry in the community in a different way.” Pastoral care of the community will continue to be provided by nearby Anglican parishes.
