“The Bishop’s Men of the Anglican Diocese of Toronto” was founded in 1960 and soon after raised the first funds for Bishop Fred Wilkinson to help clergy and their families in times of need.
Since then, The Bishop’s Company – the name was changed in the 1970s – has grown steadily throughout the Diocese of Toronto and has inspired similar groups across Canada. From the beginning, the Company has held an annual dinner, and other events with members to provide additional opportunities for fellowship. Area dinners were added in the fall of 2007 – rotating between each Episcopal area on an annual basis.
These popular events raise much-needed funds and, more importantly, raise awareness of the wonderful work carried out by the Diocese of Toronto. Funds are also raised through an annual membership campaign and donations.
An Executive Committee, consisting of the Diocesan Bishop and volunteers from the Diocese, manages the affairs of The Bishop’s Company.
