Archbishop Andrew Hutchison, Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, will speak to church members on Nov. 16 about the history and current state of the Anglican Communion in the second in a series of webcasts. The webcasts, entitled +Andrew: Conversations with the Primate, are posted on the national church’s website (www.anglican.ca).
The state of the Communion is a highly topical issue, given the release last month of the Windsor Report of the Lambeth Commission. This report examined stresses in the worldwide Communion and how it can be held together in light of those stresses.
At a meeting in Saskatoon last week, the Canadian House of Bishops unanimously declared the Windsor Report to be an important document which must be studied by the whole church. The bishops also agreed that Archbishop Hutchison should solicit feedback from church members on the report. He is to take this feedback to a meeting of all the Primates in Belfast early next year.
+Andrew: Conversations with the Primate is an innovative communications tool that Archbishop Hutchison uses as a means of speaking to church members in an informal way. The first webcast, posted last month, elicited overwhelmingly positive responses from viewers.
The production of the webcasts is financially assisted by the Anglican Foundation. |
