Anglican sailors raise funds for Mission to Seafarers
A group of sailboat skippers in the Toronto area is holding a race in support of Mission to Seafarers Southern Ontario’s efforts at ports on Lake Ontario. The race will take place on June 25 (International Seafarers’ Day) at 11 a.m. in Toronto Harbour, open to any Anglican skipper on the lake. This is about friendly competition, old-fashioned fellowship and, of course, bragging rights.

The format will be a pursuit race, with each boat assigned a start time based in its PHRF-LO (non-flying sail) rating, so all boats should finish at about the same time. The course starts in Toronto Harbour off Queen City Yacht Club, goes out the eastern gap and around one or more of the appropriate fixed navigational buoys, and comes back in the gap to finish off at Queen City Yacht Club for refreshments. An awards ceremony and fundraising dinner will follow that evening at the Mission to Seafarers, 8 Unwin Ave.

The entry fee is a minimum donation of $75 per boat to Mission to Seafarers. To register or for more information, contact Canon Dave Robinson at drobinson@toronto.anglican.ca.
