Diocesan Centre to observe summer hours
The Diocesan Centre will be closed on Fridays during July and August, starting July 7. The office will be open Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Normal hours will resume after Labour Day.

Nominations requested for 2018 Provincial Synod
The Nominating Committee of the Diocese of Toronto is calling for nominations for members of Provincial Synod. The next session will be held in Ottawa on Oct. 10-12, 2018. All members of Diocesan Synod are entitled to make nominations of any members of Synod. See more details about the requirements. Nominations must be submitted to Pamela Boisvert, Secretary of Synod, at pboisvert@toronto.anglican.ca by Sept. 1, 2017.

Vestry motion to consider housing
The subject of next year’s social justice vestry motion will be housing and homelessness. This will also be a key policy concern for the Diocese leading up to the provincial and municipal elections in 2018. The precise wording of the motion will be available in early fall. Suggested resources will be made available on the social justice and advocacy page in the coming months.

Cyclists to raise funds for PWRDF
Cyclists of all skill levels are invited to the Anglican Cycle of Prayer on July 22. A group will meet in Innisfil for a day of fun and fellowship. There will be a 17-km ride and a 100-km ride on paved roads with a few gentle hills. The cost will be $60 per adult. Lunch will be provided, with proceeds going to the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund. For more details, see the Facebook event page. Youth invited to showcase talents
The York-Scarborough Anglican Youth Alliance is hosting Scarborough’s Got Talent on June 24 at 2 p.m. at St. Dunstan of Canterbury, 56 Lawson Rd., Toronto. Admission is by food bank donation. Sign up by June 17 for the opportunity to showcase a talent (drama, band, comedy, dance, juggling, magic, singing, etc.). Bell ringers invited to join global event
Bell ringers at cathedrals and churches around the world are being invited to join a global day of music organized by the BBC. Groups from more than 20 locations have already signed up to take part in BBC Music Day by ringing their bells on June 15 at 7 p.m. local time and posting photos or videos of their bells on social media with the hashtag #bbcmusicday. Groups are asked to send a recording of their ringing to the organizers in advance to be added to the Bells on Sunday web page. Anyone interested in taking part can email bbcmusic@bbc.co.uk for more details and resources.

Parish seeks child and youth minister
St. Olave, Swansea is looking for a child and youth minister who is passionate about teaching young people about the love of God and the teachings of Jesus. The position will be 8-10 hours per week on average for 40 weeks a year. The successful candidate will have experience teaching young people in a church or Christ-centred setting; enjoy engaging children in the stories of the Bible; have appropriate theological training (students will be considered); and have excellent communication skills. Parish seeks part-time music director
St. Martin, Bay Ridges in Pickering seeks a flexible, creative and proficient musician for choral and organ leadership. Knowledge of Anglican liturgy is preferred, and the ability to plan for major festivals throughout the church year will be an asset. The position will demand approximately 10 hours per week. The church has funds to purchase a new electronic organ, for which the new music director’s input will be essential. The applicant should have a music degree, strong playing and conducting skills, leadership and interpersonal skills, and a passion for worship ministry. Music lead wanted
St. Paul, Bloor Street is looking for a professional, dependable and enthusiastic individual with a passion for people and music to become the music lead for its 9:30 a.m. service, Bridge. The successful applicant will report to the rector and be responsible for planning, coordinating and leading the weekly 9:30 a.m. worship service music. The music lead prays, sings and interacts with a band, the ministry team and church members to ensure the service flows as smoothly as possible from beginning to end. Knowledge and experience in Anglican liturgy is an asset. Strong playing and conducting skills, leadership and interpersonal skills, and a passion for worship ministry are a must.
