As part of our celebration of 185 years of service in Unionville/Markham, St. Philip’s presents the The Toronto Welsh Male Voice Choir (TWMVC) in concert. Proceeds will be shared with 360ºkids, a wonderful local service whose mission is “to prevent homelessness by helping youth at risk or in crisis transition to a state of safety and stability.” 360ºkids was selected as one of Canada’s top 100 charities in 2023.

The TWMVS has been thrilling concert audiences since 1995, when founder, Gwyn Roberts, gathered men of Welsh heritage. Their plan was bold – adapt the spirit of Welsh choral singing to Canada. Today, while many TWMVC singers still claim Welsh heritage, the choir also showcases singers of diverse backgrounds, drawn by the quality of the music. TWMVC presents the achingly beautiful songs of the Welsh mountains and valleys, but its repertoire branches out. It includes African-American spirituals, operatic arias, Canadian folk songs, and surprising Broadway show tunes and pop. This beguiling blend of music is performed “off book” in stunning four-part harmony. It drives TWMVC’s broad appeal. For tickets phone (905) 477-1991. $35.00 in advance, $40.00 at the door.
