Anglican Church Women

The Anglican Church Women (ACW) affirms the gifts of all Anglican women and gives them an opportunity to contribute through worship, learning and service.

The ACW ministers to church needs, as well as to issues affecting the wider community like health, education and poverty. Membership is open to all Anglican women.

Annual General Meeting

The diocesan Anglican Church Women will hold its annual general meeting on April 22 at 10 a.m. on Zoom with the theme is “Having Faith.”

Keynote speaker the Ven. Lydia Constant, archdeacon, Elder and faculty member at the Henry Budd College for Ministry in The Pas, Man., will speak on her faith journey combining traditional ceremonies and practices with Christian beliefs.

ALL women are welcome to register for this event — they do not need to be members of a formal parish ACW group to participate.

You must register in advance for this meeting (unless you’re using a land line telephone)

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing the link and information about joining the meeting.

If Zoom is new to you and you wish to have a practice session, leave your name and telephone number on the office answering machine (416-363-0018).

Notice of by-laws revision

To be in compliance with the Not-For-Profit Corporations Act, 2010, which takes effect October 2024, the By-laws of Toronto Diocesan Anglican Church Women must be revised and then receive Ministry approval.

The revised bylaws have been sent to every church in the Diocese by email. They have also been posted here.

Deanery days

Most deaneries try to have a special event for all the women in their congregations at least once a year. The format can range from an evening meeting with a guest speaker to a whole day with a church service, business meeting, lunch and a speaker. For the whole-day version, you can follow these guidelines:

Ecclesiastical Needlework Committee

The Ecclesiastical Needlework Committee (ENC) is a group of Anglican Church Women who meet weekly to create liturgical textiles for local parishes. In 2013, the ENC celebrated its 100th anniversary.

The ENC meets on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., September through June, at the Diocesan Centre, 135 Adelaide St. E. (just east of Church Street) in Toronto. If you’d like to make new friends, learn to sew and embroider, and help create beautiful textiles for parishes, you’re invited to join the group.

To learn more about joining or about ordering linens, new vestments or repair work, contact the ENC at 416-363-0018 or email acw@toronto.anglican.ca.
