Upcoming Archives Closure
The Diocesan Archives will be closed to visitors and research inquiries starting October 2 and will reopen on November 7 so staff can undertake inventory work and other much‐needed projects. Urgent inquiries, including requests for certified copies will still be processed during the closure, but all other requests will have to wait until the Archives re‐opens. The staff regrets any inconvenience this may cause. For more information, contact Claire Wilton, Archivist and Privacy Officer, at cwilton@toronto.anglican.ca or 416‐363‐6021 (1‐800‐668‐8932).
The Diocesan Archives provides safe, secure and controlled storage for non-current parish records for both open and closed Anglican churches within the Diocese of Toronto’s boundaries. It also maintains the central filing system for active and semi-active files of the Diocese (note: access to active and semi-active files is restricted).
The Diocesan Archives supports clergy, parishioners, genealogists, academic researchers, and other researchers in accessing historical information on our churches and the Diocese of Toronto as a whole.
If you are a member of the public, researcher, or wish to take a tour of the archives, please visit our Information for Researchers page to learn more about our holdings, access restrictions, hours of operation, safety and COVID-19 protocols, and more.
If you are from a parish or otherwise directly connected with the Diocese of Toronto, please visit our Information for Parishes page for records management support, records transfer forms and protocols, loans of materials for parish anniversary celebrations, and guidance on how to create accurate, legible, and complete records.
