Clergy reminded about confirmation service
Clergy with prepared candidates for the annual diocesan confirmation service are reminded to inform Mary Conliffe prior to Holy Week at This year’s service will take place on April 30 at 4:30 p.m. at St. James Cathedral.

Diocese notified of copyright infringement
Legal representation for the estate of the late Leonard Cohen has become aware of the use of his music at the funeral for Archbishop Terence Finlay and is also aware that several parishes have now requested from the cathedral the unauthorized arrangement of Mr. Cohen’s “Hallelujah” by the late Douglas Cowling. It must be known that this a statutory violation of copyright, as Mr. Cowling did not have permission for its use. We have been asked to cease and desist using this arrangement and to note that the fine for infringement amounts to $150,000 USD per copy. For more information, speak to Mary Conliffe.

Clergy reminded about chrism mass
The annual chrism mass, including the blessing of oils, renewal of ordination vows and celebration of jubilee anniversaries, will take place on April 11 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Cathedral. Clergy are asked to bring their own containers for collecting consecrated oils following the service.

Tickets available for Bishop’s Company Dinner
Tickets are on sale for the Bishop’s Company 56th Annual Dinner on May 18 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Michael Coren, author, radio personality and columnist, will share his journey to the Anglican Church and what it means for him to be Anglican. This year, the reception and dinner will both be hosted at the Toronto Marriott Downtown Eaton Centre Hotel. Buy tickets online before April 18 to get the early-bird discount. Those who wish to sit with their parish or a particular guest can indicate so on the registration form.

Help spread the word by sharing information about the dinner within your parish with weekly or bi-weekly postings in your bulletin. Silent auction items with a market value of approximately $20, $40 or $100 are also needed. To receive a charitable tax receipt for donated items, proof of market value must be included with the item. Church administrators invited to retreat day
A retreat day for people who work in office administrative capacities in places and organizations of worship will be held on June 2 at St. John’s Convent, 233 Cummer Ave., Toronto. Further information and registration details will be available in the next edition of Bulletin Board. The registration deadline will be May 16.

Godly Play workshop offers training
A workshop offering Godly Play core training will be held April 27-29 at St. George on-the-Hill, 4600 Dundas St. W., Toronto. A Godly Play Canada certificate of accreditation will be awarded upon completion. Godly Play teaches children the art of using Christian language to help them become more aware of the mystery of God’s presence in their lives. Prior experience is helpful but not necessary. Parish hosts forgiveness seminar
Holy Trinity, Guildwood is hosting “The Freedom of Forgiveness,” a seminar exploring how to forgive and live with peace, love and compassion. It will be led by the Rev. Dr. Rob Voyle, a priest, executive coach and psychologist. The session will take place on April 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity, Guildwood, 85 Livingston Rd., Toronto. Lay anointers invited to refresher day
All lay anointers are encouraged to attend the annual Lay Anointers’ Refresher Day on April 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Trinity Church, Aurora. The speaker will be Dr. Shelley Tidy, pastoral care associate at St. Paul, Bloor Street. The cost is $20, payable at the door. Space is limited, and registration closes on April 23. Parish hosts Indigenous cultural competency training
Grace Church, Markham is hosting a day of Indigenous cultural competency training on May 6 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., presented by the Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres. The training focuses on strengthening professional relationships between urban Indigenous and non-Indigenous organizations and clients with trust, friendship and mutual respect. Participants will build a shared understanding of contemporary priorities, the concept of allied relationships, Indigenous holistic healing, and the importance of infusing Indigenous cultural competencies throughout organizational practices through meaningful engagement with the Indigenous community. Clergy invited to digital communications workshop
The Diocese of Huron is inviting clergy from our Diocese to “Telling our story: Communication in a Digital Age” from April 30 to May 2 at Mount Carmel Spiritual Centre. Workshops will be led by the Rev. Marty Levesque, diocesan social media officer, and Davor Milicevic, diocesan communications coordinator. Areas of focus include the contemporary nature of Christian message, social media as agora, missional listening and market research, technical aspects of social media, personal branding, event planning and communications planning. Paschal candle available free

Committee provides Earth Sunday resources
On April 23, you are invited to explore how you and your parish can carry out our baptismal vow to care for creation in a fresh way. Each year, the Creation Matters Committee produces resources for Earth Sunday, including notes on the lectionary readings aimed at those preparing sermons, as well as a bulletin insert with reflection and action ideas. Deadline for OFOH grants coming soon
Parishes and congregations are invited to submit applications to receive Our Faith-Our Hope: Re-imagine Church grants in the following areas: leadership development; pioneering ministry; communicating in a wireless world; enabling parishes to become multi-staffed; and adaptive re-use of parish facilities. PWRDF seeks nominees for board of directors and honorary associates
The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) is seeking nominations for several new members for its board of directors. Terms are for three years. Board members will attend board meetings in May and November and engage in committee work between meetings. To nominate a candidate, fill out the nomination form with the nominee.
