“We choose this time of year because it is a time, of all others, when Want is keenly felt, and Abundance rejoices.”

Step into the timeless world of Charles Dickens and Victorian London to hear a dramatic reading of the story that has become an inseparable part of the Christmas. Join us for a heartwarming afternoon as our performers bring this story to life:

Eric Peterson, stage, television and film actor, known for his roles in Billy Bishop Goes to War, Street Legal, Corner Gas and This is Wonderland. He is the recipient of several ACTRA awards for acting excellence and the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award.

Marilyn Lightstone, stage, television and film actor, writer and painter. You’ll know her as Miss Stacey in Anne of Green Gables and Road to Avonlea. She hosts an evening programme, Nocturne, on Classical 96.3 radio station.

Maggie Helwig, poet, novelist, social justice activist and Anglican priest (St. Stephen-in-the-Fields). She is the winner of the 2025 Toronto Book Award for her book Encampment: Resistance, Grace and an Unhoused Community.

The event will also feature musical guests The Ault Sisters, a Canadian vocal trio featured on the Zoomer TV show, “Your All-Time Classic Hits Parade”, seen on Friday nights at 8:30pm and David Warrack, who will accompany Marilyn Lightstone on the piano.

The proceeds for this performance will go directly to the Grace Church on-the-Hill Outreach Committee, which supports several community initiatives, including the Churches-on-the-Hill Food Bank , Santa Sacks for Haven Toronto, Friday Food Ministry at St. Thomas’ Anglican Church, and the Hot Lunch Program for the unhoused at St. Matthew’s Cathedral in Timmins, Ontario.
