Doors Open 2026 at St. Barnabas
- Social
St. Barnabas Anglican Church has been a presence at the corner of Danforth Avenue and Hampton Avenue since 1910. A site of architectural and ecclesiastical heritage, it is the current home of one of the oldest Anglican parishes in Toronto (founded in 1858). The current red-brick building was constructed in phases between 1910 and 1925. The neo-Gothic-style stained-glass windows by N.T. Lyon Company, installed in the 1920s, dominate the interior. These primarily depict scenes from the life of Christ, with one memorial window for the fallen of the First World War. One stained-glass window was moved from the earlier, wooden church. Features include a solid-oak reredos from 1945 and the painted ceiling and east wall. This large church seats 500 and boasts a new entrance and accessible ramp opened in 2024. It remains an active congregation with regular services.
