Shop Talk: Gather Online, Learn and Be Fed Together

How does Communion change—and how does it stay the same—when celebrated entirely online?

Many parishes offer hybrid worship, blending in‑person congregations with those joining via Zoom, YouTube, or Facebook. Church of the Redeemer is one of the few conducting a solely Zoom-enabled Communion service, bringing worshippers together for 45–50 minutes of shared liturgy, hymns, prayer, and homily followed by fellowship.

In this special Shop Talk, Redeemer guides us through an experiential learning session: we’ll participate in their Zoom environment worship and together explore how technology can support authentic worship, and reflect on questions, insights, and possibilities that arise when we gather at a virtual table.
