A mother and her three children will officially receive the keys to their new home next month, thanks to Habitat for Humanity GTA and the Diocese of Toronto.
In January the diocese made a $100,000 gift to Habitat GTA to support the building of affordable housing for a family in the Brimley Rd. and Lawrence Ave. area of Toronto. This gift was a tithe from the diocese’s Ministry Allocation Fund and is the largest single donation from a religious organization in Habitat GTA’s history.
The funds were used to build a two-storey, 1,300 square foot, semi-detached house with three bedrooms. Construction at the site began in September 2014, with parishes and diocesan staff contributing manual labour on build days during the spring and summer.
Habitat for Humanity GTA is inviting everyone to attend the house dedication and key ceremony on Dec. 9 at 10:30 a.m. at 960 Brimley Rd. Nine families in total will be welcomed to their new homes that day. Please RSVP online if you plan to attend.
