The Very Rev. Andrew Asbil has been elected Coadjutor Bishop of Toronto on the 3rd ballot. Bishop-elect Asbil, 57, is the rector of St. James Cathedral and Dean of Toronto.
A Coadjutor Bishop is elected to assist and ultimately succeed a Diocesan Bishop. When Archbishop Colin Johnson retires on Dec. 31, Bishop-elect Asbil will assume the office of Diocesan Bishop on Jan. 1.
